A hybrid algorithm for voltage stability enhancement of distribution systems

This paper presents a hybrid algorithm by applying firefly and particle swarm optimization (HFPSO) to determine the optimal sizing of distributed generation (DG) distribution static compensator (D-STATCOM) device. A multi-objective function is employed enhance voltage stability, profile, minimize total power loss radial system (RDS). Firstly, stability index (VSI) applied locate location DG D-STATCOM respectively. Secondly, overcome sup-optimal operation existing algorithms, HFPSO utilized size both D-STATCOM. Verification proposed has achieved on standard IEEE 33-bus Iraqi 65-bus systems through simulation using MATLAB. Comprehensive results four different cases show that demonstrates significant improvements over other algorithms in supporting reduction networks. Furthermore, comparisons have demonstrate superiority techniques due its ability global optimum solution easy way speed converge feature.
